  1. 10/6/1992 TINTIN III
  2. TINTIN III is a mud client special designed to help
  3. dikumudders. It runs under various UNIX implementations.
  4. This third release of TINTIN contains a bunch of new
  5. features, which I hope you'll enjoy. I know that there're
  6. many TINTINIII beta versions around. I'd advice the people
  7. running these, to get a copy of the final release of
  8. TINTIN-III, coz the various BETA versions are pretty buggy.
  9. BTW thanks to the beta testers for their great support.
  10. People used to TINTIN v2.0 shouldn't have too many trouble
  11. with this version. But do notice anyway, that there has been
  12. a bunch of syntax changes:
  13. THE V2.0 COMMANDFILES ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THIS V3.0!!!!!!!
  14. TINTIN and the future
  15. This was the last time I'll release a totally rewritten TINTIN
  16. code. Although new versions of TINTIN might occure, they'll
  17. be of the format ver.3.x, and will only be released if new
  18. bugs are found and/or portability problems with this version
  19. can be fixed. People are invited to release clones of TINTIN
  20. if they feel they've added something neat. If you release an
  21. extended version of TINTIN, THEN MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR
  22. NAME IN THE TITLE-TEXT! This way I hope we can avoid nasty
  23. parallel-versions. I might code a tintin with a X-windows
  24. interface tho.
  25. TINTIN and bugs
  26. Well I might have left a bug or two around, but nothing fatal
  27. I hope. Should you find any bugs(and debug'em too *HURRAY*)
  28. then please lemmie know..
  29. TINTIN and portability
  30. TINTIN v3.0 has succesfully been compiled and run under these
  31. UNIX-implementations:
  32. SunOS
  33. HPUX
  34. Sequent
  35. AIX
  36. DEC ULTRIX
  37. VAX with ULTRIX 4.1
  38. NeXT
  39. and some more....
  40. If you have trouble with compiling under your system, and you
  41. know how to fix it, then please gimmie a mail.
  42. Makefile for TINTIN III
  43. I'm using GNU's gcc compiler. The most important is that the
  44. compiler is ANSI-compatible. If gcc isn't installed on your
  45. system, then try change the 'gcc' below to 'cc' If CC = gcc
  46. Some people's ANSI-compiler somehow don't have the full
  47. ANSI-defined standard-library. Uncomment the lines below
  48. if your compiler don't have 'strstr' F1 = -DDUNNO_strstr
  49. If you recive lots of error from the 'echo.c' file, then try
  50. to uncomment the next line: F2 = -DDO_TERMIO
  51. Somehow people using Sun and gcc have to redefine the values
  52. for the macros TIOCGETP and TIOCSETP. This is really dirty
  53. coding and shouldn't be nercessary(but it is sometime).
  54. 1/4/1992 T I N T I N
  55. (T)he K(I)cki(N) (T)ick D(I)kumud Clie(N)t
  56. (hell I simply wanted it to be called TINTIN....)
  57. This client is more or less a byproduct from a robot-player
  58. prog I'm coding at the moment. This means that the prog. don't
  59. has the same amount of features that progs like PMF and
  60. tinymugys have(weird features that you don't use anyway...).
  61. The prog has however some features special designed to diku-mud
  62. that might make it interesting for you. The prog is UNIX only..
